In Taisho-era Kyoto, incidents suspected to be caused by 'Kai-i' (supernatural aberrations) occur frequently. Baron Shiranui Saijo, a government-sanctioned 'Jukkinshi' (Exorcist Physician), is authorized to judge even human crimes—provided he can find evidence of a curse.

One day, on a mission from the government, he enters into a political marriage with a girl named Sayori Tamadusa. Once hailed as the 'Blessed Daughter,' she is now a persecuted soul. Shiranui intends to use Sayori as a mere sacrifice to lure out a god of curses.

However, when pushed to the brink, Sayori’s true power awakens, and the situation takes an unexpected turn. Amidst the intertwining of curses and love, marriage and destiny, Shiranui fights as an Exorcist while Sayori resists her fate as a 'Kuju' (Curse-Eater).

Will their path lead to salvation or destruction? What end awaits them both—?
